漢斯·克里斯蒂安·安徒生（Hans Christian Andersen，1805年4月2日-1875年8月4日），出生于丹麥歐登塞市，畢業於哥本哈根大學，丹麥童話作家、詩人，被譽為“世界兒童文學的太陽”。 1829年，安徒生的喜劇《在尼古拉耶夫塔上的愛情》公演，獲得了成功。30歲時創作了以義大利為背景的小說《即興詩人》，從此贏得了作家的聲譽。其後創作了《拇指姑娘》《小人魚》《醜小鴨》《皇帝的新裝》等童話，共發表童話150餘篇。1875年8月4日，安徒生因肝癌逝世，享年70歲。 安徒生作品創作具有深邃的思想內容、精湛的藝術感染力。他的童話，追求人的真、善、美 ，充滿著對弱小者的同情，對強暴者的抨擊，在美妙的故事中，蘊含著醇厚的詩意。 為紀念安徒生在童話領域的傑出貢獻，國際安徒生獎由國際少年兒童讀物聯盟（IBBY）於1956年開始設立。
