財務狀況指企業在某一時刻經營資金的來源和分佈狀況。一般透過資金平衡表及其附表來反映。財務狀況是企業經營活動的成果在資金方面的反映，按照各專案間存在著的相互對應關係，將資金佔用和資金來源之間的各個對應專案加以分析對比，觀察資金佔用及其來源是否合理，是否節約。按照這種關係，如果企業資金平衡表中資金來源及其對應的資金佔用平衡或比較接近，則說明企業財務狀況良好; 如果企業未能按時償還債務、未能完成財政上交任務，就會不合理地佔用流動資金，破壞資金佔用和資金來源的正常對應關係，造成資金週轉困難，影響企業支付能力，這說明企業財務狀況是不好 的。為了反映和監督企業財務狀況，企業應定期編制資金平衡表和其他報表，對報表中所提供的資料進行分析研究，從而發現問題，提出意見，總結經驗，改善管理。
